Cleaning and Caring For Your Wooden Cutting Board

When it comes to chopping herbs and vegetables, I think a wooden cutting board is ideal. I love mine, but it drives me crazy when I chop a bunch of basil, and am left with a huge green spot on my board. Here’s Rachael Ray showing a quick, eco-friendly way to clean your wooden cutting board!. She also shows you how to keep the board from warping.
There’s been a big debate over what makes for a better cutting board – wood or plastic? I say both! I think you need two – a wooden one for vegetables, bread, and herbs – and a plastic one for meat. I like using a plastic one for meat, because I can use hot hot HOT water and lots of soap, and really sanitize the heck out of it. And sometimes the wooden one pulls double duty as a trivet, or as a cheese board. Even cutting boards can be multi-taskers!

Moms on Strike

I just saw this comment from “Mom on strike” and had to reply in a post:
“I NEED HELP with my two boys 15 and 17, my husband-51 and my mom, none of them will do anything or help me in any way. I don’t get it. Our daughter who is 20 is very neat. She will purge her room etc two times a year. Now she is in college and is very neat. What happened!! What can I do.

This Week: Stock up on extra school supplies

This is the best time of year to buy school supplies. The prices just don’t get any lower. I saw spiral notebooks for ten cents each! Take advantage of the good pricing and buy a few extra spirals, two-pocket folders, pens or glue sticks and keep them on hand. I store extras in my office closet. So the next time one of my son’s needs a new folder–tomorrow— I’ll be ready.[LG]Here’s a dorm room check list.[/LG]
