Ordering Your Wire Shelving

Wire shelving provides a highly functional, versatile and cost effective organizational solution for any closet or pantry. Our wire shelving is the strongest in the industry and uses the most reliable hardware and brackets available. Our shelving is available in various depths to fit your application. Even better, we sell our shelving by the foot, and then custom cut to your exact specifications.

Organize-It offers two unique styles of wire shelving.
  • Open Slide: This type of shelving is great for coat and bedroom closets. The unique Open Slide design allows a garment hanger to slide the entire length of the shelf. In essence, you are getting a shelf and a closet rod in one! In comparison, other types of wire shelving will only allow a hanger to slide about ten inches (if at all), making it difficult to select and remove garments.
  • Tight Mesh: This shelving option is great for pantries, linen closets and bedroom closets. The Tight Mesh design features twice the number of wire cross members when compared to traditional wire shelving. The Tight Mesh design provides far more stability, so items are less likely to fall or tip over. The Tight Mesh design also produces less of a waffling effect on your clothes than other wire shelves.

Hardware Information
  • We will include the appropriate number of Versa Clips (which hold the shelf to the back wall) and Plastic End Caps with your wire shelving. However, you can purchase additional Versa Clips in the hardware section of the Wire Shelving page.
  • If you plan to use your wire shelving in a closet or corner where one or both ends of the shelf will meet a wall, you will need to use End Mounting Brackets to hold the front ends of the shelf to your walls. If your walls are out of square, you should use Angled Mounting Brackets.
  • For stacks of three or more shelves, use Support Poles every 36" along the run of the shelving. Shelf Clips will hold your wire shelves to these Support Poles.
  • For open-end shelves that are not stacks, use one Shelf Support Brace on each end that does not meet a wall. Shelf Support Braces must also be used every 36" along the run of your shelving. To provide maximum stability, you will want to support every 36" of shelving with a Shelf Support Braces.
  • A Joiner Support Brace may be used to join long shelves together. However, these joiners only work with 12" deep shelves.
Measuring Information

You will need to order each shelf size and type individually. To determine the length of shelf:

- Wall to wall (walls on each end): measure the wall and deduct one inch from the total length (remember to also round down to the nearest half inch). The one inch deduction is to compensate for corners that are out of square, and make installation easier. The End Mounting Brackets, which need to be purchased separately, allow for the wire to be cut short at least one inch. The End Mounting Brackets are used to hold the front ends of the shelf to a side wall.

- Wall to open (wall on one side): measure the length of the wall that will carry the shelf and deduct ½ inch after you round down to the nearest half inch (remember, you will still need one End Mounting Bracket for the side wall).

- Open end to open end (no side walls): determine the length of shelf desired. No deduction is necessary and no End Mounting Brackets are required. You will, however, need at least two of the appropriate size Shelf Support Brackets.

Once you determine the length, depth and type of shelf that will work best for your application, you are ready to order. Simply enter the length (width) along with the number of shelves of that length in the appropriate space. Due to shipping restrictions, the maximum length of 20" deep shelves is 60", and the maximum length for narrower depths is 72". Longer shelves (in 12" depth) should be ordered in half lengths, and a Joiner Support Brace should be used to join the two shelves together. Once you have all of your shelving, you can select any accessories that you would like.
